Become an Archaeologist and Join the Dig!

Become an Archaeologist for a Day

As part of Archaeology Month, the Maison André-Benjamin-Papineau invites you and your family to discover the fascinating world of archaeology through a hands-on workshop presented by Archéophone.

During this immersive activity, children aged 6 and up will step into the shoes of an archaeologist and explore a mock excavation site in search of objects inspired by those discovered in the Montreal region. Equipped with a trowel, bucket, and dustpan, participants will uncover artifacts connected to Indigenous cultures and the era of New France while learning how archaeologists interpret traces of the past.

Guided by an activity leader, participants will discover archaeological methods and piece together the history of a site through their findings.

Designed for children ages 6 and up
Two start times available: 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Psst! Your ticket also includes access to the house's exhibitions. A wonderful opportunity to continue your journey through time after the workshop.
