Echo (Feature-Length Documentary) – A Story of Memory and Transmission

What if, when memories begin to fade, images could become a way of preserving and passing on what must not be forgotten?

Echo is an intimate and deeply human documentary in which a son turns his camera toward his father to tell a story that reaches far beyond the boundaries of family. A Portuguese immigrant who settled in Laval, the father becomes the starting point for a story about roots, sacrifice, exile, traditions, and the bonds that are passed down from one generation to the next.

Through family archives, everyday moments, and sensitive storytelling, the film explores what we choose to preserve, what time causes us to lose, and what we have the power to pass on. Beyond the portrait of a father and a community, Echo also tells the story of a son's quest: to preserve the memory of the man who came before him, so that his own son may one day discover where he comes from.

An intimate story that gradually becomes universal, Echo resonates with themes that touch us all: family memory, identity, belonging, immigration, displacement, and intergenerational transmission.
